Mariano Rocchi is a biologist, actually serves as full Professor of Genetics at the University of Bari and President of the Scientific Programme Committee of the European Cytogenetics Association. During his career he worked at Burlo Garofalo Institute, Genova Gaslini Institute and Wayne State University.
Mariano was invited speaker in several countries and author of more than 360 publications in international journals, including Nature, Science, Nature Genetics and PNAS. His relevant experiences covered molecular cytogenetics characterization of tumors, evolution of genomes and centromere repositioning. He collaborated in the sequencing and analysis of the genomes of chimpanzee, orangutan, and macaque.
