MALDI-MS is a powerful technique to analyze the mass of the compounds in a given bio-sample.
Bio-sample type ranges from peptides to proteins and from bacteria colonies to tissues.
SBS-MALDI chips are based on a regular pattern of hydrophilic areas laying on a conductive hydrophobic substrate, where the hydrophilic areas are made of a nanoporous TiO2 layer having peculiar affinity to biomolecules, such as proteins. The hydrophobic-hydrophilic barrier is then exploited to confine droplets of reagents for the treatment of the biological samples.
