Tethis was born in 2004 as a spin-off of the University of Milan from a group of scientists with a strong background in material science and nanotechnology.
In 2005 it became part of the
Genextra Group, a company active in the biotech and drug discovery field, fostering the development of new products that crosslink nano- and biotechnologies.
The technologies developed by the company allow the production and manipulation of nanoparticles, and their integration on a wide range of substrates, according to their specific applicative requirements. This capacity, together with the expertise in microfluidic and biology, is the know-how at the base of the activity of development of devices for In Vitro Diagnostic , target market of Tethis.
Tethis' team is composed by 21 people, 15 of them working in R&D. Company laboratories, located in downtown Milano, comprise thin film and nanoparticle production unit and characterization facilities.
