The A.N.I.M.A. project (Addiction of Nanofiller to Increase cables Mechanical properties and Abrasion strength) rises from the desire to acquire experience and expertise on new materials, nanotechnologies and polymeric materials processing, in order to improve their performances and to develop an innovative family of cables, able to overcome high mechanical stress and to stand abrasion.
The purpose is the answer to specific needs highlighted by the final users of the products, like the big Utilities, Contractors, and the General Market, facing an important operative critical point noticed downstream of the value chain.
The aim of the project is the development of a family of cables for electric power transmission and telecommunications in optical fiber, with mechanical properties superior to the actual ones, thanks to the introduction of natural or synthetic nanoparticles into the polymeric material used as sheath.
In terms of competitive advantage and expected growth in the cables market, the aims are a direct consequence of the expected relapses on the network of the project partners, especially for the detection of technological solutions for the development of new machineries.
